I have an exciting new project to share with you today. This is a project that I have been looking for ways to implement in to my blog for some time, but I didn’t want it to be weird and totally random. The project has several life benefits, in addition to creating content, so I decided I had nothing to lose and it may make for a quirky and interesting collection of photographs. What are you talking about Emily? I hear you ask. Well, let me tell you a strange photography interest of mine. I love colourful inanimate objects. I love collecting different shades of certain things and putting them together to create pieces of colourful art. This week I have decided to share my love for front doors. Yup you heard me,
shut the front door!
Since we have had Puggy, I have discovered that I really enjoy walking the paths of the local streets and being at bit of a nosey neighbour. I find it amazing that there are so many front doors in this world, and rarely do you get to see or know what goes on behind them. At dusk, it’s the time of day when people start to turn their lights on, but haven’t closed their curtains yet, you get a sneaky glimpse in to people’s lives behind those closed doors.
I just love the front of houses in general. I think the front door of a house says a lot about the people in it. I love a house with great curb appeal. I do have a thing about taking photos of front doors (and other colourful things) and collecting them. All the different colours and styles amaze me, I have collected some from around the local area, these particular ones are from Totterdown in Bristol, and have collated them in a new colour series.
HERE’S THE EXCITING BIT: All my new colour collection is available to buy in various products via my new shop. I am creating these for me and my home and I thought you would also enjoy them. You can get all my prints on iPhone cases (mines on order!) iPad and laptop cases, or for around the home on mug, clocks and cushions. I literally want to ‘splash colour and style all over your life!’. I will be adding to the colour collection over the coming weeks, with more colourful ranges and plenty of product ideas in the pipeline too.
I have always wanted to do more with my photos, and for a while now, I have wanted to start a collection photos of things that interest me. It won’t just be front doors, although I do intend to track down as many coloured front doors as possible, I also want to do a houses series, a flower series and loads more. I want to splash colour and style all over your life! It’s a project that will get me out of the house locally to explore Bristol with Puggy on a more regualr basis. It will challenge me to walk further, look harder, and get more creative.
Here’s my first ‘Shut the Front Door’ collection. All these photos have been taken in and around the Totterdown area of Bristol.
