From this season forward Bristol Fashion Week will be a celebration of fashion for everyone, promoting positive body image and acceptance of diversity in appearance.
The Mall believes that fashion should be accessible to everyone, inspiring confidence and wellbeing, not comparison and worry.
Its rebooted fashion week will be a celebration of its customers’ diverse range of body shapes and sizes, skin tones, ages, genders, ethnicities, disfigurements, abilities and disabilities.
In commitment to this message, Bristol Fashion Week has signed up to the Be Real Body Image Pledge, part of the Be Real Campaign from the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Body Image (APPG).
The pledge calls for the responsible portrayal of body image by the advertising, fashion, media and music industries. As such, BFW’s messaging, campaigns and catwalk shows will reflect reality, diversity and promote health and well-being.
With expert trend, colour and styling advice from fashion authority Mark Heyes, the live shows will demonstrate the power of fashion to uplift and inspire confidence from within.
Mark will be joined on presenting duties by best-selling author, TV presenter, speaker and charity campaigner Katie Piper. As a role model to millions, she embodies all that Bristol Fashion Week represents and her insight in to confidence and acceptance will be an inspiration to all. The event will support Katie’s charity, The Katie Piper Foundation, as its official charity for SS18.
All shows will also, for the first time, be fully accessible for our deaf audience with a sign language interpreter.
