replacing (not quitting) smoking with vaping

This post is a little out of the ordinary for me but I have been thinking about replacing (not quitting) smoking, with vaping for a while. I say “replacing” because I think, as soon as you put the word “quitting” in to the sentence, you’re setting yourself up for a fall. By thinking of it as replacing, and researching the available (and totally customisable) products, it doesn’t feel like a challenge at all, in fact it feels more desirable than smoking almost immediately.

I’ve smoked since I was in school, as a stereo typical rebel in my early years it led me to smoking behind the bike sheds and round the corner from school, as early as 13. I’ve never really been a heavy smoker and I don’t tend to shout about it on social media. I tend to smoke more when I’m either driving (I do spend a lot of time in the car for work though) or when I’m out drinking. Over the years, I have definitely noticed a decline in smokers within my social groups and I’m now usually the only person that smokes when we go out these days.

So, I decided to bite the bullet and get myself a vaporiser to replace the fags (well roll ups, but still) not only for my health but because finally after all these years, smoking the fags has less and less appeal to me. I do say all this with some uneasy feelings of promoting vaping as a fashionable craze, this is not my intention. However, since creating a Pinterest board of all the modifications that are available for vaping, I can see why it could become a desirable trend amongst youngsters. However, rather that than like me, being swayed by harmful cigarettes as young as 13.

I’m still a little reserved when it comes to whether there are any dangers related to vaping, and I know there are mixed reviews out there. It may become more obvious in years to come when there have been more tests done, I mean it wasn’t *that* long ago that smoking cigarettes was thought to be good for you!! But for now, I do know that vaping is less harmful that cigarettes so it seems like the obvious transition and the “modern way to smoke”.

It blows my mind that there’s such a community building over vaping! There’s even Youtube channels dedicated to vaping.

Big hugs to you for wanting to make a change! Hopefully this helps you :) I cant comment personally as I’ve never smoked and don’t know much about it, BUUUTTT my boyfriend switched to vaping last year, and hasn’t gone back to cigs since! And, he used to have a couple of cigs a day, and now he only uses his vaporiser once at the end of the day, sometimes not even then! It definitely helped him get healthier and let go of his addiction :) So I hope it helps you too! Awesome honest post, sending love to you! <3
