On Wednesday, we went to see Grand Central station. Although I didn’t mind going, it was on Brads list of things he wanted to see, but it was way more than I expected in some ways and not in others. The main bit you see on the films wasn’t half as big as I thought, but the most amazing zodiac stars ceiling, yet who knew there was a whole basement level full of the food hall and a market and shops!!? The whole place was like a stone labyrinth with so many unexpected things to see. We looked around the food market. I found such a cool gadget shop, nearly bought myself a pair of unicorn slippers, but refrained. Brad appreciated the architecture and the history, whilst I looked around the holiday market.
After that, we didn’t really have a plan on where we were going and Brad mentioned the Rockefeller center and looked it up on the map. Turned out we were right next to it so wondered over. Outside the giant radio centre was probably one of the most christmassy part of NYC, with the iconic ice skating rink and the huge christmas tree (just like in Elf!!) and the gold angle statue at the front of the building. After a look around the first floor (filled with more shops!) we decided to go up to the Top of the Rock.
It was our only day we didn’t have blue skies so it probably wasn’t the best day we could have chosen to do it but even still the views were incredible. It made sense to us to go up the Rockefeller so we had views of the empire state building, rather than the other way around. It was definitely worth doing to see those views no matter the weather.
As always you can check out the vlog from the day here.
