Brad and I are making a conscious effort to spend more quality time together recently. It’s easy to get swept up in work, particularly both being self employed. We sometimes take each other for granted when we’re working so hard. So, on Friday night we decided to take some time (post photo booth mayhem!) to treat ourselves to a night out. We booked a table at Jamie’s Italian Bristol Park Street. I have been to the Bristol and Bath Jamie’s Italian once or twice before and we have always enjoyed the food an the atmosphere. Friday night was no different, it’s always buzzing and has a great vibe. I am a sucker for branding and I love the whole Jamie’s brand, his menus are well put together and I am huge fan of the industrial feel to his restaurants.
We were seen to our table, almost immediately on arrival, by one of the lovely hostesses. I always admire all the staff at Jamie’s and the way there are different roles to play by all the front of house staff. I have worked in restaurants in the past and most places expect the waitresses to be the hosts, waiters, servers etc. But Jamie’s has all the roles split down, to mean that each person is an expert in their own role. Our dedicated server came to take our drinks order and true to form we order a bottle of red wine, which we started to drink whilst we perused the menu. I also love how the servers all know exactly what the special dishes are and describe them each verbally, it really gets your mouth watering.
I love to try small amounts of different flavours, so we went for three starters to share. The crispy squid, crispy porcini mushroom arancini, and the bruschetta from the specials. Which was topped with parma ham, feta cheese, pear and walnuts on. I don’t even like pears but all the combinations of flavours were so delicious together. I really enjoyed the starters, I could have eaten them twice over. I went for the carbonara for main and Brad went for the lamb ragu from the specials. Both dishes were yummy but my fav things were definitely the starters. Brad also had a dessert, but I am not much a fan of desserts so had another glass of wine instead!
We had a lovely evening and it was really nice to spend some quality time together enjoying great food and great wine.
Editors Note: Jamie’s Italian has the BEST toilets!!! Proper Thomas Crappers! I have a bit of weird thing about good toilets, these are great, make sure you check them out when you book your visit!
