Last weekend I headed down to Dorset for my best friends Hen do. Along with my fellow bridesmaids, we had organised to go glamping in Swanage for the weekend. There were fourteen of us all in total and we booked through Go Hen who were able to provide a full package for the weekend. We turned up to find three tipi tents for sleeping and an extra marquee, “the Party tent!” which housed plenty of mirrors and beauty stations, a fridge for all the wines and food, and coffee and tea was also provided to nurse our hangovers the following morning.
I arrived early to put up some additional decorations and get the camp fire lit before the other hens arrived. The girls had done the food shopping in advance and we got the BBQs going on their arrival and enjoyed a feast around the campfire and consumed much alcohols!
On Saturday, after cooking many bacon rolls for breakfast on yet another BBQ, we made our way over to Studland. We had a lovely lunch and got the ciders flowing at The Bankes Arms. We sat and enjoyed the view over Poole Quay before making our way over on the chain ferry to Sandbanks, where we hopped on our transfer boat to Brownsea Island for a quick pitstop.
We weren’t supposed to leave the jetty as Brownsea Island is part of the National trust, but as it was pretty chilly and we had a bit of a wait until our next connecting boat. They were very kind to invite us in to sit in the cafe, where there was a mix of cake, tea, coffee, cider and wine consumed before we got on the next boat over to Poole Quay. We did a mini pub crawl and enjoyed a few cocktails before we got the main boat of the day, the Party Boat.
The whole weekend was so good, we weren’t sure how it was going to go down with everyone and it could have gone one of two ways. We got lucky with the weather since we spent most of the weekend outside, it could have been miserable. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves, in particular Fenner, and we all took away a few hangovers to prove it! I am so proud that my best friend will be walking down the aisle in a little under two months, and so pleased that I have been a part of it.
I made a video of the weekend and I am so proud of it, it’s hands down one of my fav videos I’ve ever made!
