Something very exciting happened this weekend, we transformed our spare room in to a walk in wardrobe. I finally have my own (shared with Brad – minor detail) walk in dressing room. Isn’t that what actual dreams are made of!? I feel like Cher in Clueless, ok so it’s not computerised or on a turn rail but it IS the perfect space to store my ever expanding clothes and accessories collection.
It was a brainwave I had when losing the battle against all our mismatched furniture that was not fitting (stylishly) in to our bedrooms. We live in a three bedroom house, I was using all the storage in our bedroom (in addition to having my office desk in there too) and Brad was using the wardrobes and drawers in the large back bedroom. Between us we were taking up two rooms of storage that looked ugly. Our small front bedroom was sat empty with a double bed taking up all the space in there, not being used.
We were having a sort out last weekend and I whilst I was procrastinating over the job in hand, browsing Pinterest, I saw something that gave me an idea. Since Brad is a builder he has loads of scaffold poles and boards knocking around so I decided we should make something with what we had lying around to solve all our storage issues.
We used the Expiteds that I had for my office to form the base, which Brad clad with a rustic urban wood top. We secured a scaffold pole from one side of the room to the other to give us a rail, which we then used an 8ft scaffold board on top to create a shelf for
our my shoes. We also managed to attached a few left over clamps to the support leg to create an extra shelf and something to hang my necklaces on.
