Happy Good Friday All!! I have been longing for spring pastel nails for ages now, it was finally time to get it done and embrace the spring vibe. I have been pretty tame with my nail porn game recently, it’s been a while since we did any great designs or embellishments, so we decided to go for it and I thought my new designs were pretty epic easter nails! Kaycie is so good, I literally went in and handed her a handful of muted neon colours and said, ‘think spring but not too cutesy, think easter unicorns’. I got rainbows, watercolour, stars, sparkles and even and easter egg! I love them.
This is the pallet we used, there’s a few in there that I would have like to have used but couldn’t squeeze in, that I just think are great spring pastel shades.
You can check out the video below, which is a quick run down of how we achieved the look.
Hey kid, how was your weekend? I hope you had a good one and didn’t get blown away if your weather was anything like it was in Bristol! I hibernated for a good proportion of the weekend inside and warm. Whilst Brad has been away throughout the week, I have been working super hard, I really feel like I’m back on my game after loosing my mojo for a while. I have rekindled my love for making youtube videos and have been challenging myself to up my game with my filming and editing, and whilst I have had a few trial and errors, I’m pushing myself to make my work better. Likewise for my photos for my blog, I have been challenging myself to shoot more often in manual and get better photos.
On Saturday night I was working with the photo booth really local to me in Bristol, so I didn’t do much during the day. The new set up and email sharing was super popular and Kirsty and Rich went for the comic book photo booth which is my fav, I love all the bright colours. I was up late editing the photos from that and saw the clocks jump forward – it took me an hour to get to bed!
I tried to get up early on Sunday, regardless of loosing an hour, to take Puggy for a walk in the park. It ended up being a little later than planned but we got our blustery walk before I had to get home to get ready for the Spring Beauty Fix at Cabot Circus. Many of the shops had big savings and deals on offer and Cabot Circus had very kindly given me a £50 voucher to go and explore the shops and make the most of the bargains. I was booked in with The Body Shop for a mini make over at midday so I went straight down to register. The MUAs showed me some new eyeshadow pallets to try out and something to help my blotchy complexion, which I then proceeded to purchase.
The guys at Spring Beauty Fix were encouraging visitors to bring their make up in to be recycled in return for a £10 voucher that was valid to spend anywhere in Cabot Circus for one day only. Naturally, I took them up on that offer and cleared out a load of old make up. I had a mooch around Cabot and popped in to House of Fraser to browse their make up counters. I spotted the new NARS counter and gravitated towards it. Check out the video to find out what I got!
Last week, I, along with Lily, Megan, Steph and other bloggers of whom I had never met before, were invited to Bath Lush. We were invited for an evening of demonstrations, a store tour and a chance to make our own Lush products. In the grand scheme of things, I am a nbewie to Lush, I only used my first Lush product just before Christmas. I have always loved the smell when you walk past a store, and I have been in a handful of times without buying anything. I think, truth be told, I was just bowled over by all the choice and I didn’t ever know which products to go for so I just didn’t try anything.
Compared to your bog standard bath and shower products, Lush does tend to be more pricey. Not to say it isn’t justified, I just want to make sure I am buying the right products when spending my hard earned money on their cruelty free products. In addition to that, for the past two years, we haven’t actually had a bath in our home and a lot of the more colourful and desirable products (i.e. the bath bombs) are dedicated to people who have a bath.
Whilst I was there I was talking to the staff about what products are great for showers, and there is loads that I didn’t know about. I tried the Yummy Mummy shower gel which smells amazing and took home a sample too. Although I am not a mummy, who cares what it’s called when it smells that good! I also got some Fun for Christmas, and I love having fun in the shower (oi oi!!) it’s a really great product and you can even play with it like play dough and wash your clothes with it. Now that I have a better knowledge of the products I definitely feel brave enough to take the plunge and try some new products. If your like me, next time you pass a Lush, just go and and ask the staff about your requirements. They are very informative and you can also try some samples of any product so you can try for yourself!
Did you see my YouTube videos this week? No, well then, you are in the right place and you’re in for a treat! I am so proud of my video this week. I have been making a real effort to up the quality of my work. All the big YouTubers also seem to be upping their game and if you wana run with wolves…. I can’t remember the end of that saying but you catch my drift!? I always want the quality of all my work to be the best it can and I always strive for improvement, I am always developing. I feel like 2015 is the year for making everything (including myself, personally) better, just being a better me all around.
In these videos, although I don’t feel are 100% the best I can do yet, are really a turning point with my YouTube filming. I have my new camera with auto focus, and the closer range and I have my lighting nailed. I still have some ideas to get a little more creative though so watch out YouTube, I am coming to get ya!
I went to Kaycie’s with the outfit from my christmas jumper outfit post on, and asked her kindly if she could match my ensemble. I think she has done a spectacular job. She used shellac polish for all the designs apart from the red and pink glitter acrylic on a few fingers. She used a red, pink, white and black shellac and used a fine brush to paint all of the details. Featuring a mixture of snowflakes, miniature hearts, snow, present ribbons, baubles, and christmas jumper pattern. I absolutely love the complete design, it matches my new jumper perfectly!
