On Thursday last week, I had a package through the post which I got very excited about – Hairrings from Regal Rose. I had seen them in the last (EVER) copy of Company magazine (Boo sniff – Sad times!) and I instantly had to order them. I am alllll about the accessories, and fully believe more is less! As it was also the same day I had plans to head over the bridge to Wales to do lunch with Jess and Emily, and Helen, I thought I would try something a little different with my hair to be able to use the hairrings, putting a french plait down my hair line. The morning was also looking pretty overcast and autumnal so I dresses accordingly, get my monochrome and gold back on which hasn’t made it’s way out the closet since last winter (I did however somewhat regret the black leggings and leather jacket later in the day when the sun came out and the temperature shot up.
I feel like I really need to refresh my autumn/winter wardrobe as I am not really loving anything from last year now. I think it needs a spruce up, I would like to find some more skirts and boots combo’s and some darker slogan tee’s (Sooooo basically my summer wardrobe – just in darker colours!)

After our week away last week was filled with wind and rain with just a couple of days sunshine, one would be forgiven in to thinking autumn has arrived (Sssh, I am a little pleased by this- but not by the rain, just the slightly dropping temperature!) but today the sun shone in Bristol again to welcome us home, thank you sun. None the less my mind is no longer focusing on pastel hues and my eye is being drawn to more autumnal shades and black is definitely a factor again. I popped to town last week with my best friend and fellow bridemaids to go bridesmaid dress shopping/browsing, and we accidentally fell in to Primark and H&M (Haul video coming to my You Tube Channel very soon). I was actually very controlled with my spending (I am trying to be more sensible since my spending got a little obsessive) and only purchased a few things to create just the one complete outfit.
I found this skirt featured here in the sale rack in Primark and it was the only one left as far as I could see and luckily for me in was in my size. I love a good full circle midi skirt, and this floral print scream Ted Baker at me (I am a little Ted obsessed). It looks like a very luxurious watercolour print skirt and I fell in love, it even has red tones running through the flowers and I never wear red but the turquoise and pinks were a winner. Whilst I was in there, I was actually looking for a particular pastel fake fur coat that I saw recently in Company magazine but I think I was too ahead of the game as usual as they hadn’t had it in yet, so instead I stumbled across this leather jacket with gold zip detail. I have wanted a “leather” jacket for ages but I am pretty fussy about the style and wanted one with the right style of collar (and price tag of course) and I adore this one. It is the most expensive thing I have ever bought in Primark at £25, but the “leather” is so soft and the fit around my waist is perfect.
I didn’t plan on buying anything in H&M, as I rarely go in there because I have never been a massive fan.. But who knew the Bristol H&M was on three floors and offered such a selection of ranges. They literally had a section for all stereo types including sports luxe, hipster prints, pretty pastels and girly grunge. I did spy quite a few things that took my fancy but when I saw this “leather” Trés Cool slogan bag which is perfect size for laptop, iPad and other important things, I knew it would complete my outfit I was creating. Topped off nicely with this black and gold studded/spiked statement necklace (was in the sale, here’s a similar, less studded version) to add to my growing collection.

Is it just me or does autumn feel like it is just around the corner? This week I have had my socks on more days than not and I have even put a hat on on two occasions. Although I do love summer, I have to say, autumn is my favourite time of year. Well actually I love all times of year, our british weather gives us such a variety, and you know what they say – Variety is the spice of life.
I do love it when the cooler air kicks in and the leaves start dropping from the trees, usually I don’t find myself saying this until at least after my birthday (which by the way is on Saturday!) but I am more than happy to start embracing the new season. It also means a whole new wardrobe change, which is never a bad thing (apart from for my bank balance!). Having said all that, we are down in Bridport camping this week with the pooches for a little family holiday on the lead up to my birthday (errr did I mention it is my birthday soon!?) so I do hope the rain holds back for us. Other wise we will have a week of wet dog in a small confined tent – with views over the Jurassic coast none the less!

Many of you will be familiar with my on going series from my previous blog space, Tuesday Twinkles. In light of my new space here on Mermaid Gossip, I wanted to rename the series to something more apt. The Little Mermaid is my favourite Disney movie and further to that, Part of Your World is my (probably all time) favourite song, so this new series Tuesday Treasures is inspired my all the treasures ariel has in her cave.
“Look at this stuff, Isn’t it neat? Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete? Wouldn’t you think I’m the girl, The girl who has everything? Look at this trove, treasures untold, How many wonders can one cavern hold?”
Tuesday Treasures (just as Tuesday Twinkles always was) is a cavern of treasures that every
wanabe mermaid could ever need in her life. For the most part it will be fashion related and include an outfit post each week, but sometimes I may just spice things up a bit with some gadgets and gizmos a plenty! (see what I did there!) For my first ever Tuesday Treasures, it seemed only fair to keep things mermaid inspired (I am riding this ship as long as it sails!). Back in December I put together this Mermaid Style post, and it was one of my all time most popular Tuesday Twinkles, so I know you love a good mermaid inspired outfit.
This weekend just gone, I was down in Bournemouth for a wedding with the photo booth, and whilst I was there I was mentally planning all the things I wanted to create for this new blog space of mine. It was well timed and I just HAD to get down to the beach and take some outfit posts and in true mermaid style, I went and sat on some rocks down at Avon Beach to launch this series with a real splash! (Literally – I even got my feet wet and splashed around in the sea!)
