Good Morning! Have you had a good weekend? I have had a lovely weekend, but now I am sick and seriously struggling through this morning. I am powering through as I have so much to do today, so I am stocking up on caffeine (no christmas pun intended!). I feel like I haven’t stopped since Thursday lunch. I spent Thursday afternoon in the car on route to London for a double consecutive photo booth booking. I went straight to London Zoo to set up for the Christmas party in the Mappin Pavilion at the Zoo for the evening, before heading to my friend, Hatty’s, after to crash on her sofa for the night. I couldn’t leave the house on Friday as Hatty couldn’t leave me her keys when she went to work, so I was locked in her house for the day until I had to go back to London Zoo for the second Christmas party in as many days. Both Christmas parties with the Photo Booth went brilliantly and were really popular (you can see the photos here!) and then I had a late night drive back on Friday night. You can watch day four and five of Vlogmas nelow…

After being away for 2 days, I came back to Brad at the peak of his man-flu, and Jamie the lodger being drunk sick in the toilet (what a welcome home!). Brad was totally bunged up and had to go out to the 24hr shop to get some sudafed to clear his sinuses. So whilst the house was awake anyway, I edited the photos from the night and it was 3am before we got to bed. Clearly burning the candle at both hands and being to close the the sick boy, I have caught it! Boo!
It was totally forgotten about when Fenner and Rob turned up Saturday lunch time. I was so excited to have my best friend to stay so close to Christmas and looking forward to spending the weekend making merry. We took a walk down to Banco Lounge and spent the afternoon drinking mulled cider (with a shot of rum) and eating yummy food. I was so silly and totally forgot to take my camera, which I was gutted about because it was SOOOOOO festive in Banco lounge and would have made for such a great little video, so I am going to have to go back and drink more mulled cider (what a shame!) to show you how lovely it is down there.
We did our usual Sunday activities, walking up at Leigh Woods, with the dogs. We stopped at the cottage on the way home for (the best) onion rings and a pint before we had to say good by to our guests. By that point yesterday I was feel super ill, and tiered so I had a nap on the sofa to re coup a little. I was so tempted to stay in the warm, but we had planned to go and see the fireworks at Clifton Suspension bridge for it’s 150th anniversary. I crawled off the sofa and put on my fur coat, my scarf and hat and wrapped up warm and headed (back) to the cottage on the Harbour to get our seat for the firework display. We even took blankets and a beer to keep us warm. It was such an amazing display, we were so impressed and so glad we went to see it. There will be more Vlogmas videos coming soon.
It’s not long until christmas now!! EEkkkk! So excited. So to get you in the spirit, here’s 10 reasons it’s awesome working from home at christmas…
1. You can look at your christmas tree all day.
2. You can catch up with the latest presents to buy on the gift list on This Morning.
3. You get to see a full 24hours of sexy Scofe on Text Santa!
4. You can sit by the fire all day.
5. You can have a puppy! (Or decorations, it’s one or the other!)
6. You can sit in your festive onesie all day.
7. You can eat as many mince pies as you like and no one will ever know.
8. Same goes for those afternoon Egg Nogs.
9. You can sing as loud as you like to the Christmas songs on the radio.
10. You can spend as long as you like looking for Christmas presents online, because the boss says it’s ok!
This morning I popped out the house to go to London Camera Exchange to pick up my new camera. This is what I wore, I ended up in wine and chainmail (not literally!)… but back to the camera!! I have been torn between a Canon 600d/700d and the Nikon D5200/5300. I did a lot of research online before making my decision, but I found an amazing deal at my fav camera shop in Bristol.
All the bloggers seem to go for the Canon varieties and I have played around with them and it was the 600d that had me wanting the flip out screen. It just made filming and taking awkward photos so much easier. All the reviews online were saying the Nikon equivalent, the D5200, was better but having used the Canon, I was still hankering towards changing over to the dark side. I have always been a Nikon girl and I have lenses and kit that fit across the brand. So if I went for canon I would have to buy new kit along with it to get started, then I would have had to figure out how to use it properly.
When I spoke to London Camera Exchange on the phone to discuss which they thought was better, I was told a secondhand Nikon D5200 model had come in, just that day and was up at £229. I was able to also trade in my old Nikon D60 too, so I only paid £150 for the new camera. It’s like it was fait. I am so pleased with my new upgrade, and because I stuck with Nikon, I was able to get straight to it with my current lenses and came home to take my outfit post photos.
So, back to the outfit!! I literally just rushed out the house this morn, but turns out I quite like the outfit I had thrown on. I am usually a bit self conscious in this shorter (than i’m used to) skirt which was from Primark. Not because of the length of it, but because the waist line just doesn’t ever seem to sit very flattering-ly. But I decided as this outfit was good enough to pop in to town in, it was good enough to share with you! I wore my Primark pleather jacket too, which with the weather being so cold, I cold have done with popping my fur stole round my neck.
I am so pleased I have been able to get some wear out of my Rock n Religion jumper that I won via an instagram competition in the summer, it’s only now I have started to wear it. It’s really comfy and I do love a good metallic! I am pretty much living in my Dr Marten Amilitia Boots and wear them everywhere that isn’t a smart occasion. They are wearing well and are so comfy, the feel like the are moulded to my feet.

Wow! Seriously guys, I think I have doubled in size since the last time we spoke!!! We have been seriously glutenous and over indulgent this weekend.. But it’s nearly Christmas so it’s ok!! Plus I spent the whole of Saturday working on my accounts so I think I deserved a treat!
I originally had prior engagements with The Celtica Manor’s christmas press event on Saturday night but something came up (and I had my head stuck in accounts, yawn) and I couldn’t go. So instead Brad and I spent the evening drinking hot toddy’s (and eating chocolate) in front of Xfactor and I’m a Celeb.
On Sunday morning, we went down to Sand Bay to walk the dogs along the beach and pop in on Brads nan, whilst we were in the area. On the way back we took the country road and stopped at the massive Cadbury garden centre, to stock up on Christmas decs. I was so ready to get all festive, but Brad couldn’t cope with ALL the people, particularly on an empty stomach, and got totally freaked out. So we left and traded shopping, temporarily, for an extremely delicious carvery and pint of bitter at The White Hart pub near Congresbury.
Once our bellies were filled, we drove home via the Range, to pick up so many new decorations. After starting a little foggy, the day turned out to be glorious sunshine. So it didn’t feel all that Christmassy, aside from the boot full of decorations we hauled home. It was tough work to get Brad in the festive spirit, so I’m going to let you girls in to a secret about how to get your men interested in Christmas decorating early. I sent him to the garage with some ply wood, his power tools, and this DIY from A Beautiful Mess. I linked to this on Things I love Thursday a few weeks back and I was wondering if I’d be able to coax Brad in to helping me make it. Turns out (not so surprisingly!) he’d rather be in the garage with power tools, whilst I brew hot toddy’s and decorate the house! I’m happy with that, I got to dance around the living room to Christmas songs AND get a fancy new light up snow flake.
It’s not quite quite finished yet, I’d still like to look for some christmas blankets and cushions before I reveal the final christmas styling. These are a few sneak peaks, and I made a quick haul video to show you what we picked up. I’ll be putting up a full video towards the end of the week so keep an eye out for that. Once our work was done for the evening, we sat down with some cheese and crackers and a glass of red wine, later to follow with an orange and brandy hot chocolate as our night cap before bed.
