I had a meeting this morning about taking on some extra work to boost my income, so naturally, I went in colour popping ponies! It was chucking it down with rain first thing this morning and I was feeling in quite a grey mood to match the weather. Whilst I was getting ready to go out, the sun came out, and so did my mood for adding some colour to my outfit.
I wore my grey velour skirt from Topshop, a studded denim shirt under my my little pony jumper (both Primark) which substituted a boring grey jumper and I am really glad I decided to add some colour after all. I have been pretty colourless all winter so it’s nice to start adding some pops of colour for the new year. I went to have my nails done yesterday with Kaycie, and on arrival she presented me with this Paul’s Boutique bag and told me she was donating it to me as she didn’t get much use from it and had remembered I had said I liked it. Liked it? I LOVE it!! I have always wanted a Paul’s Boutique bag and this one is too perfect for me.
Although the sun was shining, it’s still bitterly cold out (and my roots are in drastic need of a bleach) so I stuck my grey Primark hat on, which I have most definitely got my cost per wear down to minus figures! Since I let my hair dry naturally after I washed it yesterday, it was in no fit state to be left as it was, so I plated it, and dressed it up with my regal rose hair rings, which I don’t wear enough but it is nice to add a bit more bling to my hair. I also wore one earring (that looks like a plug) from Gauge Queen. For me, more is MORE when it comes to jewellery, I have always been that way. My rings on my fingers feature some Cheap Frills and some vintage and car boot treasures. Finally, of course, I had my Dr Martens on.

Good Morning Gorgeous! So the christmas decs are down (mine came straight down on new year’s day!) and it is time to move on in to 2015. Are you back at work this morning? Today I am officially back to work too, I say officially, I have kinda been working all week but that’s because I just can’t help myself. However, if I chose to sit and watch five films back to back or a day of youtube videos, then I didn’t beat myself up about it. Whereas today, it’s properly back to the grind, time to get focused and organised.
I have really been trying to drag out my time off for as long as I could, for I know that now that I am “officially” back to work, there won’t be much stopping me. It’s actually odd how, over my time off I have been inspired to get back to work, and as soon as you put an “official” in front of it, my brain is retaliating somewhat creatively. I do find sometimes I am more inclined to work when I am not actually supposed to be. But I have also definitely avoided the “proper” work, which is where I need to get a schedule in place to stick to.
Although I have been dabbling in bits of work here and there, I have really enjoyed being so lazy and lolling around the house. It’s been refreshing to just sit back and relax in front of several films, seriously I have actually lost count how many films I have watched this last week. Brad and I have managed to get a few bits sorted around the house, had a bit of a clear out, taken stuff to charity shops and tidied up. There really is nothing more to procrastinate about now (apart from the other 100 films on our new Now TV box) so I do feel my mind is ready to throw myself back in to work, just!
This week will mostly be about planning for the new year, coming up with ideas for blogs, youtube videos and a POA for the year for all things photo booth. What have you got planned for this week? Are you breaking yourself in gently like me, or throwing yourself in the deep end?! Tweet me and tell me! Tweet: @mermaidgossip #myfirstweek2015
I love doing these round up posts at this time of year, mostly so that next year I can look back and see how far I have come and how much things have changed. Since this will be my first full year on YouTube, I thought I would just summarise my top 10 you tube videos 2014. Making youtube videos has become my new fav thing, I love it. Not meaning to wish my life away but, I hope when I look back at this post this time next year, I will have my goal subscribers. I would love to get to 10k by 2016! What do you think, can it be done? I have a little over 1000 in a year, so that ten fold to get to my goal. Hopefully the market isn’t too saturated with nearly 30 year old pink hair blogger and entrepreneurs!
If you like my videos, it would be great if you could subscribe and like the videos, if you have any suggestions of videos you would like to see me film, I am always up for a challenge!

I feel like since I launched Mermaid Gossip, I have totally upped my outfit post game. I dabbled with a few outfit posts over on Fishee Designs, but I wasn’t really committed to it on account of still finding myself with blogging. Fishee Designs blog was the wrong place for outfit posts and anything non-photobooth-related, although I couldn’t see that at the time. It only took me a year to realise I needed to give my blog its own space separate from the photo booth. Although I wish I had realised it a lot earlier, it does mean that I had a space to practice my blog game before launching the real thing.
Since I launched mermaid gossip I have been totally committed to doing an outfit post every week on a Tuesday and I have enjoyed looking back at all the outfit posts over the last few months and I have collated my favs below.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you that have supported the launch of my little Mermaid Gossip. It has been such a pleasure to blog almost daily and I can’t wait to up my game further for 2015. I hope you all have a fantastic New Year’s Eve on Thursday, and I’ll see you on the other side!
I wasn’t planning on writing today, I intended to have a full week off. But I sit here with my lemsip (caught my brothers illness), Puggy has his new bone keeping him occupied and Brad has taken Logan to work with him. I looked back through all my photos from our trip last night and I have taken so many, Mermaid Tales seemed like the most natural place to share these with you. So this post comes to you from my onesie relaxing still on the sofa (no change physically from usual but it’s all in the mindset, I’m still mentally on a break!)
I had such a lovely Christmas, it’s my fav time of year because it gets all our family together. As I don’t see much of them the rest of the year, it makes it all the more special for me. Not to mention how spoilt I was this year too, I got some fab presents and I am going to film a ‘What I Got For Christmas’ YouTube video later, once the lemsip has kicked in!
We headed down to Bournemouth on Tuesday (Christmas Eve eve!) and we had to swing by my Grandmas to drop off a piece of furniture and it was late before we got to our home for the weekend so we headed next door to mums for dinner before hitting the hay for the night. On Christmas Eve we met up with friends, Nick and Kat, who live in Bournemouth. We went for a long and blustery walk along Hengistbury Head, it’s my fav place to walk in Bournemouth, I even wrote this poem about it four years ago! We spent Christmas Day at my mums with my family and on Boxing Day we jumped in the car and roadtripped to Somerset to Brads aunty and uncle’s house to spend the day with Brads fam. You can watch out antics from our trip above.
