That’s right, since being an ‘adult’ I have never been to a Halloween party and dressed up. So this year I thought it was about time, so we had the first party in our house since moving in two years ago (where does time go? honestly!) I made a half hearted effort at decorating, but I didn’t want to spend a fortune on it, knowing it would all be wasted after a few drinks! In hindsight I’d have love to have gone all out and much bigger with it all, but I have kept all the decorations to build on it next year.
I was pretty impressed with the turn out of all the costumes, most people really made an effort, and some (not mentioning any names) didn’t! But I made them wear the tabard of shame from the emergency costume kit (it was basically a plastic bag) but all in all it was a great turn out and we had a great evening.
I spent all of Saturday on the sofa tainted with a hangover and a house to myself. Brad went to work like a trooper, so I spent all day watching Made In Chelsea and back to back youtube videos. At around 4pm I peeled myself off the sofa, nursed the hangover with one final berocca, and got showered and ready to head over to Wiltshire for Steph and Sam’s wedding party with the photo booth for the evening.
To my surprise it was 10.30am(!!!) before I woke from my slumber on Sunday morning, I haven’t slept in like that for ages! Sunday is the one day of the week I get to wake up with Brad next to me (because it’s lie in day for both of us!) and we get to enjoy some snuggles before we devoured a mammoth breakfast and embarked on cleaning the remnants of Friday night’s party.
I love Sundays, they are my fav day of the week. I get to spend all day with my boys doing something or nothing, but at least we are all together!
I hope you have a wonderful week beauty’s!
It’s the WEEKEND!!! Wuhoo! I say wuhoo through my slightly tainted head after our Halloween party last night. I have never had a halloween party before, I don’t even think as an adult that I have ever done fancy dress before! I know – shock horror! I will be sharing some photos from the party on Monday as today I will be spending the day recovering, before I am off to wiltshire for Steph’s wedding party tonight with the Fishee Designs Photo Booth.
But for now, I thought I would do a quick weekend round up, if you missed anything during the week, here is where you can easily catch up!

I was super lucky to be invited to the Dr Martens, Bristol to sneak a peak at the new AW14 collection, and to be offer the chance to chose my fav pair to take home. Having never stepped foot in a pair of Dr Martens before, (but been on my wish list for some time) I can’t tell you how exciting this was for me.
The Bristol store is small but perfectly packaged, with retro vibes streaming out the front door. It’s a place I instantly felt at home in and was cooing over several pairs of their awesome range. Of course naturally there’s the classic 1460 in patent pink that I have lusted over for a long time that I was drawn to instantly (who doesn’t love a bit of patent pink?). Then there was the iridescent snake skin style which I also couldn’t help cop a feel of.
Mini records (which, sorry, I’m not old enough to know the correct terminology for) were playing on the branded duke box, as I was greeted by the lovely manager, Kat, who naturally rocked her own pair of DMs along with several tattoos and an oober cool personal style. She was really helpful in telling me about the new range and showing me around the store, she even helped me take some photos (and I’m not the easiest person to take photos for!).
I was torn between the tattooed Mary Jane, but in the end I went for the Amilitas with floral ribbon laces and a dark floral inside. The moment I put my foot in these boots, it was like I was walking on cloud 9. They are with out a doubt the most comfortable thing I have ever put my foot in (and in have put my foot in
it a lot!) I wanted to wear them to bed last night. They will not be leaving my foot for a very long time. I can’t wait to do a proper outfit post with them, I’m sure you’ll be seeing a lot of my little amilitas in the near future!
Huge thanks to Dr Martens for making this post possible.

A couple of weeks ago, I headed down to St George’s road at the bottom of the Jacob’s Wells road, to see Jamie at Bespo’ke Salon. They are well known for their male grooming services but a lot of people don’t know they do also do women’s hair. Jamie got in touch with me to see if I would mind popping in and loaning my hair for him to put it towards his level three hairdressing course. Although qualified in level one and two he is now training more specifically in colours and wanted to get creative.
I had been thinking about going darker for the autumn for a bit of a change and had a shade of pink in mind, In The Frow’s ombré shade is so gorgeous, this was my inspiration. When we first chose the colours and mixed them up the shade in the bowl looked the perfect deep magenta with a hint of purple. We were kind of the blind leading the blind when it came to getting the right dilute, I wanted to go darker than not dark enough as I knew it would fade, but it became aparent once the colour had been sat on my hair a while, it was looking pretty blue, and I have to say I was a bit worried!
We used a half the concentrate dilute of mixure in the same shade, but with more conditioner added, for the ombré lengths but I think I under estimated how dark the colours were as it was still quite deep a colour. I love the service with Jamie at Bespo’ke, it’s such a quirky place to go to have your hair done with vintage vibes running through the salon, I love helping Jamie out too (and of course I get a free colouring for helping out!)
I did love the colour in the end, but it was just that tad on the blue side of purple, so a couple of days in I ran a wash of dark tulip directions over the ends to counteract the blue and with that it was perfect. I love being a darker shade for the autumn winter, it feels much more apt. What colour are you going for this season!?
I have had so much fun playing dress up.. Where my witches at!!? I cannot wait for Halloween, so I got started a little early and did a practise run through. (And it’s a good job because the first attempt looked more like the tin man on crack rather than the sultry witch that I was going for!!)
I have always been a bit in to witches, secretly. I love the dark side and I very much grew up in the shadows. There’s was always something about witches, their magic spells and potions that have intrigued me. My top witches have to be The Charmed Ones of course, specifically Phoebe and then Page when she came along (I never liked pru!), Sabrina the Teenage Witch and SJP in Hocus Pocus!
We’re having a Halloween party for the first time ever, I have never dressed up for Halloween as an adult, so it’s all very exciting and it felt like a pretty natural decision to chose a witch as my Halloween costume! My Glaswegian babe, Miss Westend Girl and her scottish blogger crew teamed up to put together The Halloween Girl Gang project, and I have been loving all their outfit posts. I wanted in on the fun so I have created my own halloween witches outfit post for you!
This outfit was put together on a budget (and in a bit of a rush after my failure to produce my scheduled post last week!) My gloves and necklace were from Claire’s, I picked up my witches hat and faux candle holder, in Home bargains, whilst I was shopping for decorations for the party. I based the whole outfit around my pleather midi skirt which I already had in my wardrobe from Sainsbury’s and featured a few weeks ago.
I had been on the hunt for a top that made this outfit more witchy than just a normal outfit (aside from the obvious hat) and I couldn’t find a nice lace top anywhere (admittedly I didn’t look that hard!) and I stumbled upon this one in the lingerie section at Tesco (go tesco!) I think it will probably go in the “underwear that doesn’t come out very often” drawer after the party on friday night! The boots are from Duo and I think I will be living in these from now on!
I filmed a video whilst I was getting my make up on, it’s no tutorial but it might give you some insight as to how I achieved this more subtle witchy face, you can see that on the blog tomorrow.
