Tuesday Treasures // Autumn Rose

If you saw my outfit post early, you will know that I am embracing red – which NEVER happen! I was inspired by the Bristol Fashion Week AW14 catwalk, with red being a key trend for this season. I feel like it has to be the right shade of red for me, that doesn’t clash with my hair. Although it’s more purple now so I feel purple and red are more of a team than pink and red (unless you are the Kellogg’s Special K lady!).

I wanted to put together the perfect autumn rose outfit for you, and combine it with some of my fav autumn rose pieces available online today. I am not sure how much red will make an appearance after October (maybe until christmas) so make the most of it!

Outfit Post // Autumn Rose

Yay!!! Autumn is here! This is my FAV time of year, I love all the seasons, but I am an autumn rose for sure. Which is completely ironic because for the past three years since I have been pink, I have always felt that the autumnal colour palette just wasn’t for me when it comes to fashion. Although, I do love the changing colours of nature all around, the yellows, oranges and reds and all the hues in between. I am fully embracing October this year, with exciting blog posts each week with autumn and halloween themed outfit posts and features, did you see the first kick it off, my Autumn Allotments?

Last week, my Crown & Glory Glitterati box arrived (more on that tomorrow) and inside it was a blood red whole lotta rosie. I have to be honest when I first saw it, I turned my nose up and dismissed it (it’s all caught on camera in my unboxing video). However, when I was editing the video, I decided I actually quite liked it now that my hair wasn’t so pink any more, and have today, decided to embrace it.

Although I died my hair this morning, and I was actually going for a dark pinky, purple, and it’s a lot lighter than I wanted but it the right tone I was hoping for. I added a bit of Crazy Colour Fire red in to the mix to give the pinky/purple and duskier undertone which I was hoping would give it a more autumnal vibe that would no longer clash with deep reds.

The dress I am wearing is actually one my grandma made for me over three years ago, (whilst I still had red hair) and it is the only red thing I have in my wardrobe, and shamefully, I have never worn it. In actual fact, I could only just about get back in to it, with very little room to move (or breathe!). It was made from some japanese silk fabric I was given when I was in the shop. I love the fabric so much and it has hints of purple and green running through the flowers so the combination with my hair worked really well.

I’m getting all the oldies out today as these Cat boots (similar) I bought two years ago and haven’t worn them for ages, again, brown is another colour that I don’t wear very often but these boots are perfect autumn/winter boots as they are very comfortable and fur lined for extra warmth. My fur trimmed blanket cardigan was from a charity shop last year, although I lived in it last year, it so cosy!

Mermaid Tales // Decorating and Drunken Debauchery

Is it Monday already?! I don’t feel like have even stopped to take a breath since last weeks mermaid tales! I have been up to my eye balls in paint all week and late on Friday afternoon, I finished my newly decorated living room (this was my inspiration). The entire week of intense manual labour was topped of with a bright pink cherry on top when the Bespoke Bride girls, Jess and Em, Megan and Sophie came to stay on Friday night.

Jess and Em cooked us a lovely prawn curry, we drank soooo much wine, celebrated lots of good news, drunkenly walked to tesco at midnight, gave facials, injured toes, hyper danced to Shake It Off, discussed general girly stuff and had a merry old time!

You may have read my Things I Love Thursday, and will be expecting the “Week in the Life Of…” vlog to prove all my hard work, well here is Part 1 (below), Part 2 & 3 will be following tomorrow and Thursday, and there’s my Crown & Glory Unboxing video going live on Wednesday – yup in all the madness I still had time to film and edit two Youtube videos last week – Go me! (Did you see my Home Haul that went up on Friday?)

Enjoy!

Things I Love Thursday // My Fifties Inspired Living Room

Soooo.. There’s no official Things I Love Thursday this week because I have been too busy creating a master piece! But I couldn’t let the day pass with out sharing a few little loves from this week.

MY NEW LIVING ROOM!!

Errr did I mention I have a new living room!!!?

It’s actually two years to the day that I moved to Bristol and in to our home with Brad and embarked on setting up our life together. The house (and life) has been a work in progress ever since. I am so pleased and proud of what I have achieved in less that a week and I love my new living room.

I have pulled up the carpet (thank god that ugly thing has gone!) I have sanded the floor, filled the walls, sanded the walls, painted the walls (three times!) I have painted the floor and upcycled all the gplan style furniture. It’s been a long week but it’s finally done, well kinda, there’s a few more little things to finalise. Like creating my photo wall, giving the nest of side tables a second coat of paint, not to mention finding another sofa to match and a few more cushions to buy. Then it will be done!

I absolutely love my new space and I can’t wait for Brad to come home to see it on Sunday! (And Logan to mess it all up!). I only have one photo to share with you today, (because I only finished about an hour ago!) but I have Vlogged the entire week so there will be one epic ‘Week in the Life of’ video coming soon!

I am also so pleased Friday has very nearly arrived at (1h50 to be precise) and that means the girls will be here to drink wine and eat food and make merry! It will the grand finale to a roller coaster of a week, you can catch up with it all on my You Tube channel on Monday. (See that tab up there that will take you straight there!)

Business as usual next week.

Autumn Allotments

We have an allotments just over the road from us, and whilst I don’t have an actual plot (because I wouldn’t have a clue what to do, or the time to learn) I do love to go over and walk Puggy, admiring the flowers, and the vegetables that people have spent time cultivating. It’s very peaceful over there, I can see the draw to having an allotment, although I think most people are retired and have plenty of time to nurture their plant kingdom.

We may be experiencing an indian summer with temperatures still hitting low twenties, but it is only ninety seven days until Christmas (sorry, not sorry!) I am all prepared for the crisp mornings, getting my jumpers and boots on, I just wish the weather would catch up, it’s all very confusing! With little over a month until halloween there are pumpkin’s galore, the leaves are on the turn and it feels very seasonal throughout the allotment. I took my camera with me to take some photos of the array of wonderfully bright colours, rich reds, oriental oranges, yummy yellows and every shade in between.
